How to get there

The expedition starts in Alta city, with the most convenient route being a flight to the local airport, Alta airport (ALF), followed by a bus or taxi ride to the city centre. If there are no direct flights to Alta from your country, opting for a domestic flight from Oslo airport (OSL) or Tromsö airport (TOS) is usually the bestsolution.

The airlines flying to Alta are:

Scandinavian Airlines

Norwegian

Widerøe

The pick-up point is outside the Thon Hotel in Alta city, the excact meetup location is shown in the bottom of this page. For Saturday departures the meeting time is 4 pm, for Tuesday departures, it is 7 pm. You will recognize our crew by their Orcanorway jackets as they welcome you at the pick-up point. A private bus will transport you from the meeting point to the boat’s location.

The expedition ends either on Friday or Tuesday, with disembarkation between 2 pm and 4 pm. Subsequently, our private bus will return you to Alta city.

We advise all our guests to arrive in Alta city one day or, at least, two hours prior to the trip. Given the changing weather in northern Norway during this time of year, airports may experience snow and icy conditions. In the event of a flight delay or cancellation preventing timely arrival at the pick up point, guests must arrange their own transport to the boats, as our bus will not wait.

Additionally, we recommend spending a night in Alta after the trip. If you prefer to book a return flight from Alta on the same day as the expedition ends, this is possible. Our bus can drop you off at the airport for all our trips (we do not offer pick-up at the airport). Depending on the orcas’ location, our arrival time may vary, but you will be dropped off by 5 pm at the latest.
